Frequently asked questions
What video formats are supported?
MP4, MOV (including ProRes), MKV, AVI, MXF, WebM, M4V, MTS, and M2TS. Camera RAW formats like R3D and BRAW are not supported — transcode to ProRes or H.264 first.
What resolution do I get?
Standard ($1.99): Full source resolution — drop in 4K, get 4K back. Free: Stills are scaled down to 720p so you can preview the quality before upgrading.
What's the difference between Free and Standard?
Free gives you up to 3 jobs per day, 720p output, 2 min / 500MB max — perfect for trying the service. Standard ($1.99 per video) gives you full resolution up to 4K, 5 min / 2GB limits, and all output formats. Same processing, same speed — just full quality and bigger limits.
How many frames will I get?
Roughly six stills per second of footage. A 60-second clip returns about 300 frames. A 30-second clip returns about 150.
How long does processing take?
Most jobs finish in under a minute. Larger files (1GB+) or longer durations may take 2–3 minutes. You'll see a progress indicator — leave the tab open until it completes.
Is my footage stored or shared?
No. Your video is processed in memory and deleted from our servers the moment your download finishes. We never view, store, or analyze your content. Read our privacy policy for details.
What's the file size and length limit?
Standard: up to 2GB per file and 5 minutes of footage. Free: up to 500MB and 2 minutes. If your clip exceeds the limit, trim it first.
Do I need an account?
No accounts, no signups, no logins — for either tier. Free is rate-limited per IP address; Standard is per-video at checkout.
What if processing fails or my download breaks?
If anything goes wrong on our end, your session is automatically restored so you can upload again at no charge. If something else goes wrong, email framegrabsupport@gmail.com — we'll make it right.
Can I use the stills commercially?
Yes. You own your footage, you own the extracted stills. Use them anywhere — portfolio, social, client deliverables, festival submissions, prints.
What output format should I choose?
JPG for portfolios and social (best balance of quality and size). PNG if you need lossless or transparency support. WebP for web use where every kilobyte matters.
